MARYLAND JCI SENATE FOUNDATION
The MD JCI Senate Foundation has as its primary purpose the granting of educational scholarships for deserving high school graduates in the state of Maryland. For many years, the MD JCI Senate selected and provided these merit based scholarships.
In 2008, the decision was made to establish a Foundation which would stabilize and systematize funding support for the scholarships into the future. Thus, the MD JCI Senate Foundation was formally established in 2009.
Scholarships of $500 were awarded each year, until beginning in 2020, the Foundation determined to award two scholarships of $1,000 each year. The two winners of the MD JCI Senate Foundation Scholarships automatically have their applications forwarded to the US JCI Senate Foundation for consideration for one of their scholarships. Beginning in 2022, a third scholarship for $1,000 was added for a MD high school graduate to attend either a vocational or technical school. Applications are due to be submitted to the MD JCI Senate Contact Person as shown on the US JCI Senate Scholarship web page with the selection process for the MD JCI Senate Foundation Scholarships typically taking place in late January. Membership and Contributions
The generosity of Sustaining Members of the MD JCI Senate Foundation is crucial to its ongoing success. The Foundation in 2010 established a minimum level of $100 to become a Member of the Foundation. A stepped recognition program was initiated in 2019 as an incentive, and as a thank you, to those who continue and increase their financial support of the Foundation. A membership Certificate of Appreciation is presented to each individual reaching the $100 Member level. Thereafter, recognition is made for those achieving the $250 Bronze level, $500 Silver level, $750 Gold Level and $ 1,000 Diamond level. Corporate or institutional contributors receive appropriate recognition of their generous support. As of the end of 2019, 40 individuals have become Members, with an additional 18 personal contributors. Of the Members, six have reached the Bronze ($250) level, three the Silver ($500) level, one the Gold ($750) level, one the Diamond ($1,000), and one has achieved Double Diamond ($2,000) level.
On behalf of the students who benefit from your generosity, we thank all the individuals, corporations and institutions whose contributions made these grants possible.
